SSLab welcomes highly-motivated undergraduate project students (專題生) and graduate (MS and PhD) (碩博生) students. See the lab‘s page for more details.
If you’d like to work with me, please feel free to reach out by email.
Important: In your email, please
- include a CV, or a brief introduction about your academic background (e.g., relevant coursework, projects, or work experience).
- discuss the research topics you are interested in exploring with my lab.
- (optional but recommended) it’d be really great if you could also read one of my past papers (or papers in relevant areas) and share specific insights, such as ideas you found particularly interesting or possible directions for improvement or further exploration.
I try to work closely with students, you are expected to commit to research activities. Your progress will be evaluated based on commitment, contribution, and engagement with the project. We usually schedule weekly or bi-weekly research meetings.
If you are curious and passionate about advanced topics in operating systems (1, 2) and systems security (1), I encourage you to reach out.
For Undergraduate Project Students:
The lab offers two tracks:
- research oriented: you are expected to explore the unknowns; standard research process (e.g., survey and study research articles, experiments, etc.) is expected.
- project oriented: you will be assigned research objectives that involve mostly engineering efforts.
It takes insights beyond what you learn in classroom to build and hack systems. To make yourself ready for research, you should be expected to spend at least two months on learning the pre-requisites.
For International Students:
I cannot admit students to my lab by myself. You have to apply for the MS/PhD program either for the CSIE or GINM department before its respective deadline. Your application will be reviewed by an admission committee.
For those who are interested in working towards a PhD with me:
If you are a current student at NTU, consider apply for 逕行修讀博士學位.
You are expected to be funded as a PhD student. There are scholarship opportunities.
Taiwanese Students:
International Students:
- MOFA Taiwan Scholarship Program
- NTU Scholarship - the package covers tuition + stipends
